The Healing of the Seven Generations is a non-profit organization based in Kitchener. Our vision includes developing self-help strategies for the Indigenous community, facilitating teachings, implementing cultural programming that promotes healing, and overall to assist and empower individuals within our community to improve their quality of life.
This fundraiser is for a program we provide every year to the Indigenous youth of Waterloo Region and surrounding areas called the Backpack Program. We are looking for school essentials and/or monetary donations to purchase those items for this upcoming school year. We are anticipating about 300 registrants.
The Backpack Program ensures that our local Indigenous students get the best start possible towards their coming year of education by providing them with backpacks full of school supplies suited to their age and grade. Your participation would be a largely appreciated contribution to everyone involved in this initiative.
Some examples of things we are looking for to support our community’s students (but are not limited to), are backpacks, reusable water bottles, paper, binders, duotangs, writing utensils, geometry sets, and calculators. We are hoping to receive any donations before the 21st of August to give staff time to select appropriate items for each student.
