<div>Hola, mi nombre es Ethan Leao Ortiz Morales y tengo 10 meses. Nací el 31 de octubre del 2024, a las 39 semanas de gestación, por cesárea. Pesé 3,750 gramos, medí 51 cm y mi APGAR fue de 8/9.

<div>Aunque llegué al mundo fuerte, a los 3 días de nacido mi vida cambió: mis niveles de bilirrubina subieron hasta 40 mg/dl debido a una incompatibilidad sanguínea (O+/A+), lo que me provocó una encefalopatía aguda por hiperbilirrubinemia.

<div>Tuve que ser ingresado de emergencia a la UCIN, donde me colocaron un catéter venoso central para poder recibir el tratamiento que necesitaba. Pasé por una exanguinotransfusión, un procedimiento delicado en el que tuvieron que reemplazar mi sangre para salvar mi vida.

<div>Durante esos días difíciles, los estudios mostraron también una hemorragia subaracnoidea grado II y edema cerebral frontal derecho, complicaciones que gracias a Dios y a los médicos lograron resolverse, aunque dejaron huellas en mi desarrollo.

<div>Con el tiempo, los especialistas descubrieron además una estenosis leve en la rama pulmonar izquierda, que requiere controles cardiológicos. Y más recientemente, un electroencefalograma (EEG) mostró actividad irritativa cortical, por lo que tomo levetiracetam y necesito seguimiento neurológico cercano.

<div>A esto se suma una pérdida auditiva neurosensorial, por lo que también necesito evaluaciones y terapias para estimular mi audición y comunicación.

<div>Hoy, con 10 meses de vida, sigo recibiendo terapias de estimulación y fisioterapia. Mi desarrollo psicomotor es más lento, pero cada logro —sostener mejor mi cabecita, mover con más fuerza mis manitos, emitir nuevas sonrisas— es un milagro para mí y una gran alegría para mis papás.

<div>Hello, my name is Ethan Leao Ortiz Morales and I am 10 months old. I was born on October 31, 2024, at 39 weeks of gestation, by cesarean section. I weighed 3,750 grams, measured 51 cm, and my APGAR score was 8/9.

<div>Although I came into the world strong, just 3 days after birth my life changed: my bilirubin levels rose to 40 mg/dl due to a blood incompatibility (O+/A+), which caused acute encephalopathy due to hyperbilirubinemia.

<div>I had to be admitted to the NICU as an emergency, where a central venous catheter was placed so I could receive the treatment I needed. I underwent an exchange transfusion, a delicate procedure where my blood had to be replaced in order to save my life.

<div>During those difficult days, tests also showed a grade II subarachnoid hemorrhage and right frontal brain edema, complications that, thanks to God and the doctors, were resolved, although they left marks on my development.
</div>

</div>
<div>Over time, specialists also discovered a mild stenosis in the left pulmonary branch, which requires cardiology follow-ups. And more recently, an electroencephalogram (EEG) showed cortical irritative activity, for which I take levetiracetam and need close neurological monitoring.

</div>
<div>On top of this, I also have sensorineural hearing loss, which means I need evaluations and therapies to stimulate my hearing and communication.
</div>

<div>Today, at 10 months of age, I continue receiving stimulation and physical therapy. My psychomotor development is slower, but every achievement—holding my head up better, moving my little hands with more strength, making new smiles—is a miracle for me and a great joy for my parents.
