Claire's IU Honors trip to France

This summer I will be studying abroad through the Indiana University Honors program to St. Brieuc, France. This will be an amazing experience for me to expand my horizons, improve my fluency in French, as well as learn firsthand about French culture. Travelling to France has always been a dream of mine; ever since I was little I have had a passion for French and wanted to travel to France someday. I remember hearing about the IU Honors program when I started my first year of French in seventh grade and ever since I have been determined to be a part of it.
I have been studying French for five years now but my hope is to achieve fluency by submersing myself in the culture and language. As college approaches I have chosen to study Tourism and Hospitality as a major, with interpretation as one of my focuses, which means proficiency in foreign language is a must for my future. I look forward to a career that will take me across the globe for business, interpreting, or management, therefore studying the second most national language in the world would be unendingly helpful.
Through IU Honors I will be staying in France for 7 weeks and attending school every day to study culture, grammar, literature, linguistics and history. As well, I will be taking educational day trips to other parts of the country that are considered cultural centers, such as Paris, or of historically important, such as the beaches of Normandy. I will be living with a host family who only speaks French, along with all of my peers and teachers who will only be speaking French. In fact, for the entirety of my trip I will speak nothing but French in order to ensure a complete submersion experience and better develop my French skills. The program is highly selective and well regarded as one of the best studying abroad programs in the nation so I am very lucky to have been chosen to participate.
The one drawback to this trip is that it is very expensive; the program cost includes my airfare, my meals for the entirety of the trip, my schooling, and my housing. I will need to raise $5,100 to cover this cost. I am seeking support in the form of sponsors to help make my dream a reality. If you would be willing to be a sponsor for my trip, your contribution would be greatly appreciated. There is no minimum donation to be considered one of my sponsors, as all help is appreciated. During my trip I will create a photo collection to commemorate my experience that I will compile into a book and give to each of my sponsors as a thank you.
