The Knights of Columbus council #6897, is currently raising money to provide an ultrasound machine to the Life House Family Care Center here in Murray, KY.
The Life House Family Care Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to aiding young women and families in Calloway County. They offer a variety of services including pregnancy testing, compassionate care, baby clothes & supplies, support after an abortion, and abstinance education.
The Knights of Columbus is a global fraternal order of Catholic men who contribute millions of hours (73.5 million in 2015) to service projects each year as well as millions of dollars ($175 million in 2015) to charitable causes.
From the many programs that the Knights of Columbus offer, we as a local council are using the Ultrasound Initiative to cover 50% of the cost of a new ultrasound machine for the Life House Family Care Center. The remaining 50% is left to us to raise and we're asking for your help.
While there is no timeline for raising the money for this program, we cannot receive the matching funds and deliver the machine until we have raised our portion. During this time, there will possibly be children who's mothers do not receive the benefit of the ultrasound images prior to making their ultimate decision on their pregnancy.
In other words, lives are on the line and we want to complete this project quickly.
