Ukulele Love

I am David, a 22-year veteran biology teacher at Fairfield High School, Fairfield, California.  I am writing to you today because I love the ukulele and I would like to share this love with my students.

I have formed a group on campus that meets on Fridays at lunch to have an “Ukulele Jam Session.”  We are a small group.  But, interest in what we are doing is growing on campus.  Sessions are spontaneous and as the players strum and sing-a-long many student spectators in the room join in.  It’s quite magical!

There are many students that come to the sessions and they are interested in playing the ukulele.  I pass around my ukulele all the time.  Anyone who wants to play can play mine, and the other members of the group are generous with theirs as well.  Any and all who want to play get a chance to do so.  When each beginner strums the “C” chord for the first time, we all cheer!  Every time this happens we see their facial expressions change from interest to happiness.  It is really quite something to behold – it is pure spontaneous joy!  I would like to extend this joy to my students who have no ukulele of their own.

This is where you come in.  I would like us to form a collaboration to support the musical interest and growth of my students.  To that end, I am asking for you to donate money to this cause so that my students can have an ukulele of their own to play and keep.  My goal is to provide an ukulele, gig-bag, and tuner for ten students prior to Winter Break in December of 2017. My wish is to spread “Ukulele Love” and I can only do this with your support.  Will you help me spread this love and joy?

Imagine this moment:

A student comes to the Ukulele Jam Session and as usual he or she wants to play someone’s ukulele.  Only this time, they are passed an ukulele to play, and as they play they are told, “Keep it, it’s yours!”

Your gift will change the heart and mind of that student forever - they will transform into a learner and player of music, perhaps for a lifetime.  Isn’t the love of music worth passing on?  I believe so, and I want you to be a part of this life-changing event.  Please help me make this dream a reality by a generous donation to this cause.

Thank you in advance for your kind support and donation.  Let’s change lives through music!

“Ukulele Love” let’s pass it on!

Sincerely and respectfully,
