UKREC - Princeton, KY - Families Affected

Donation protected
Hello Everyone -

This is Lisa Dunwell, daughter of Winston Dunwell  one of the PHDs, leadership and staff that would like to support  University of Kentucky Research and Education Center (UKREC), Princeton,KY families whose homes were damaged by the devastating tornadoes late Friday evening, Dec 10th that struck Princeton subdivisions and the UKREC.  These individuals not only are unable to live in their homes but their sanctuary the UKREC was also destroyed .

There are 7 UKREC families in need currently. This is set up specifically for those families. As we learn more about our colleagues and friends we will work to support as many UKREC families as possible. Checks will be sent directly to the families from a dedicated account at Farmer's Bank in Princeton, KY to be used to provide them with their needs; many have nothing, no home, no car(s), and have lost communication devices phones, computers and the funds will be used to resolve issues related to their losses.  Two members of one family whose house was totally destroyed with them in it where hospitalized and may use the monies for related health care.

UKREC has been a magical place for over 90 years, providing agricultural support to many industries and counties across KY, the tri-state region and the nation. I, Lisa,  literally grew up in "The Station," even working there myself a few summers as an Entomology intern while my brother, Ben, worked on the farm crew. Like most small communities, this place is not only a building that supported one of KY's top industries, but is the center of our lives - and our hearts.

Due to the tornadoes that swept across parts of Kentucky and the surrounding states, early on Dec. 10th, many of our friends and colleagues lost not only their beloved "Station," the newly renovated Research & Education Center, but their homes have been severely damaged or destroyed completely as well.

We thank you for your kindness, thoughts and prayers through this difficult and challenging time.
