Ukrainian family starting a new life.

Hi, my name is Cam Lewis, and I am starting a Go Fund Me page to help my wife's Ukrainian family make a new start in the United States.

When the Russians invaded Ukraine in February 2022, we knew we had to get our family out. The journey to the United States was difficult. Still, with the help of many friends and family, our Ukrainian family traveled through Romania, Germany and the Czech Republic, arriving in the United States on April 10, 2022. The journey took nearly two months, but now they are here. Since then, they have lived with my wife, my two daughters and me in our home. It was an expensive trip, and I can't thank enough those who helped make it possible, but now it's time to start their new lives.

My family and I have been able to pool our resources and secure my Ukrainian family a place of their own (close to us, of course). All the required paperwork has been submitted to the United States government, and hopefully, my sister-in-law will eventually receive permission to work. In Ukraine, she was a primary school English teacher, and we all know teachers are in high demand, but until then, we are asking for help with day-to-day expenses.

Having a place to sleep is one thing, but food, heat, water and electricity are another. This first year will be rough, but with your help, we can make it a little bit easier. We are asking for donations to help them get on their feet and start their new lives positively. It has been incredibly tough for them, leaving everything they own and have ever known. They have constantly been amazed at the outpouring of support, and we hope that support will continue.
