Un tale flusso richiede risposte immediate che spesso le istituzioni non possono fornire con altrettanta tempestività.
Nemmeno i grandi sforzi mobilitati dai numerosi volontari che lavorano senza sosta per fornire prima accoglienza non riescono a coprire il fabbisogno di chi fugge. Il denaro raccolto viene devoluto a favore delle necessità di donne e bambini. Rendicontiamo tutte le spese.

Trieste welcomed over 800 people fleeing the war in Ukraine.
Italian system is slow to react. Volunteers are working round the clock to fill the gaps. People are still falling between the cracks.
Many families are lacking the basics - medication, fresh fruit and veg, yogurts and baby food, personal hygiene, toilet seats and brushes, mops and dustpans, bedding and pillows, extension leads, hangers, underwear, socks, shoes...
The fundraised amount covers the emergency money for women and children. We report all the expenses.

5 years ago crowdfunding for the project Fragments of Memory in Lviv of Western Ukraine connected me with people round the world, and eventually brought me to Trieste.
Putin’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine on 24.02.2022 has changed the lives of millions. It is tearing apart everything that is dear to me. My ancestors lived in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Kherson, Mariupol, Odessa. My family and friends in Ukraine are living under the bombs or fleeing. My family and friends in Russia are protesting under the threat of 15 years in prison or going into exile.
People of Trieste have been reaching out to each other from the first day of the war - collecting humanitarian aid, setting up Facebook, WhatsApp and Telegram groups, meeting people fleeing the war at the Italian/Slovenian border above Trieste, supporting through interpreting, driving, cooking, walking, talking.

Many people love Italy. Few people know Trieste. Right now, Trieste, the borderland city, the former port of Austro-Hungary, is the first entrance to Italy for people running away from the war.
