On December 28th 2020 my dad and to many others "Uncle Dave" had a massive stroke.  He had a very large blockage in his carotid artery, stemming from his neck into his brain, thus causing the stroke.   He was quickly transported into surgery where they spent the next hour and a half clearing the blockage.  The surgery was successful and they were able to get full perfusion back to his brain.   Unfortunately that does not correct what had already happen as a result of the stroke, which impacted the entire left side of his body.  Recovery can take months of therapy.  After spending a week in ICU, he's been transported to a rehabilitation facility where he is working on physical skills to return home.    

His bedroom was up a steep flight of stairs on the second floor. His kids and grandkids (lots) are working to convert his ground level garage into a master bedroom with a walk-in shower and French access doors to the exterior, parking and backyard. This should better suit his current and anticipated future medical and physical needs. We are working really hard to have this completed by the time they release him from the hospital. We'd love to welcome him home in a way that he can rest, heal and rehab without unnecessary stress or challenge.  We're all pitching in the manpower, so Dave's small army has the labor covered but we estimate the project materials to be 8-10k.  Flooring, lumber, drywall , tile, insulation, and plumbing is adding up quickly. 

We know he's touched so many lives and want to invite you to be part of this welcome home gift to aid in his recovery. Anything raised in addition to the project needs will go toward his medical bills. 

He is a very determined man. His stroke was one of the worst there are. We are thrilled that we are racing the clock to beat him home! Thanks again everyone we really appreciate your support in this time of need!
