Debbie's Fight With Amyloidosis...Fighting for survival until I get a new heart!

Hello all! I figured it was time to update this page and let everyone know what was going on, a lot has changed since this donation page was first created. Now doctors say my only hope for survival is a heart transplant.

After my diagnosis with Primary Amyloidosis that has affected my hearts Hopkins started me on chemo with hopes that things would start to get better. Unfortunately that didn't happen. I went into cardiac arrest with complete blockage three times, the last one, doctors said, I was very lucky to have been revived. After my most recent episode, doctors put a pacemaker on my heart to ensure that it won't stop anymore.

Doctors could see that things were rapidly getting worse and the chemo couldn't fix the damage that was being done by the Amyloidosis. They said that they had exhausted all of their options and told me my prognosis wouldn't be long. My daughter, Britni, decided to contact the Amyloidosis Treatment Center in Boston as a last resort hoping that they would do something there. Boston immediately told me that I would most likely be a perfect candidate for a heart transplant and that if I came there, there would be a greater chance for survival.

As of today, July 30 I am finally in Boston being seen bythe best Amyloidosis team in the country. Once I am determined a candidate for a heart transplant I will be waiting in Boston for a new heart. The stay here is not cheap, medical expenses continue to rise, and the travel expenses to have someone with me at all times have proven to be much greater than what I initially expected. My family is trying to raise $25,000 to cover medical, travel, and housing expenses. A heart transplant is my only chance of survival and Boston is the only place that will do it. Myself and my family are extraordinarily gracious from all of the generosity of donations and prayers.

Please everyone continue to help in my fight for surviving until i receive a new heart! God bless all of you! Sincerely- Deborah
