Carol Mace’s Medical Care Expenses

As most of you know Carol was in a tragic jet ski accident on August 3. She was life flighted to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, Maine and then transported by life flight to Boston Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts the following night because her head and neck injuries were so severe. She also broke her left wrist, right index finger and had a concussion.

While at Boston Medical Center she had surgeries on her throat due to a cracked hyoid bone, a laryngeal fracture, a paralyzed vocal cord, along with nerve damage in her neck and face. This led to having a trach put in to help her breathe to bypass her mouth. She was transported by ambulance to Maine Medical Center Rehab in Augusta, Maine on August 14th, where she regained strength to come back home. She returned to Boston Medical Center on Monday, August 20, to have her trach removed. She is now back home recovering after being in hospitals for 17 days. She states that the biggest incentive to recover quickly and get back home soon was to meet her new granddaughter, who was born while she was in the hospital.

For anyone that knows Carol, she is a very strong woman and we are all so blessed and thankful for her to still be with us today. She is finally back home recovering safely. She will be following up at EMMC for her throat and going to Down East Ortho in Bangor, Maine for her broken arm.

Unfortunately her insurance is denying all medical bills at Boston Medical Center, which are astronomical, along with the ambulance ride to Augusta, Maine from Boston.

We are asking for donations to help with her medical care since it is not covered. Any amount would be very much appreciated.
