UHI's Health Education Program

Tax deductible
Uplift Humanity India (UHI) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to empowering orphaned, abandoned, and incarcerated youth in India through education. Since 2010, UHI has been educating the youth on learning to read and write in English, life skills, and technology training. To date, they have impacted over 500 students’ lives and partnered across the country with ten (10) facilities in Gujarat, New Delhi, Mumbai, and Hyderabad.

In August 2016, Rayna Shah connected with UHI’s CEO, Anish Patel , on developing a Health Education Program within the organization. Within three months, she recruited and developed a team of dedicated healthcare professionals who pledged to join the journey.

In November 2016, Rayna & Palak Sutaria traveled to Palanpur, Gujarat to visit students that lived in a government-run orphanage as a means to conduct market analysis/needs assessments. There, they quickly learned about the students’ lack of general understanding in regards to personal health, hygiene, and overall well-being.

Rayna & Palak returned to the US and relayed the information learned to three additional teammates (Samvida Patel, Pooja Patel, and Amy Molnar) to start the development of a health education curriculum, aimed to educate the youth on basic personal and oral hygiene, nutrition, mental health and wellness, and personal growth and development.

After a year and half of curriculum development, in February 2018, Rayna & Pooja traveled to Palanpur, Gujarat to launch the newly developed health education curriculum with the teachers there. Workshops were conducted with 6th grade students at a government school, highlighting information on oral hygiene, nutrition, anxiety, substance abuse, depression, and self-esteem through activities. The teachers were provided with and educated on a year-long curriculum that will be implemented starting with the new school year, June 2018-July 2018.

Over the course of the next year, we will be receiving ongoing feedback regarding the curriculum: what is working, what is not working, what can be improved, what can be removed, and what else can we add?

Our goal is to educate and empower these youth to live a happy and healthy lifestyle, but we need your help!

Our previous goal of $2500.00 was met short at $1675.00, all of which went directly towards all necessary expenses during the launch of our Health Education Program in February 2018, including a year's worth of supplies. The campaign will remain open indefinitely, assisting us with ongoing development needs and supplies.

** Monetary funds raised will be directly applied to all costs associated with transporting and lodging our team in India, implementing the health education curriculum, providing the students with year-round health supplies, and providing the teachers with necessary classroom items to properly execute classroom activities.

If you would like to make a monetary donation, please do so through this platform. If you have any questions in regards to the program, please feel free to reach out Rayna Shah at [email redacted].

Thank you in advance for supporting our cause! We are excited to share with you the results at the end of next year!

With hope, love, and passion,
