Help HIV/AIDS and Abandoned Children

Hi, my name is Amal Sam. I am sixteen years old and a junior at Ravenwood high school Brentwood, Tennessee. This summer, I had the opportunity to go to India for a vacation to spend time with my grandparents. However, in addition to spending time with family, I was fortunate to learn about the local community. I was able to work in the social service society under the archdiocese of Changnacherry in Kerala, also referred to as CHASS. I volunteered here for about three weeks. While I was there, I was assigned to translate letters from Malayalam (local language) to English. I was assigned this task because families from the "save a family" program wanted to thank their benefactors for their donations. I worked to fix the language barrier and made it easy for the benefactors to read and understand. While correcting these letters, I was able to read them and understand the situation of each family and comprehend their standards of living. It made me realize how blessed I am to be living in a lovely community, having access to clean water, suitable housing, and an excellent education system. CHASS is a social service society that is solely dedicated to the social concerns and development interventions addressing the weaker sections of the society irrespective of caste, creed, or community. However, CHASS is a small organization addressing significant issues in the state of Kerala, but their lack of proper funding inhibits them from reaching their goals. One of their main projects is the "support a child" program, which empowers HIV/AIDS infected and street children. During this season of giving, I would like to raise funds to support their medicinal and marginal needs. Kindly join with me to help these innocent and loving children.
