I know my family is not the only one that was affected by Harvey, nor the only one that needs help. Monday morning, after waiting out the storm, HPD knocked on the door and informed me that they were clearing the neighborhood because it was likely a 4-5 foot wall of water from the San Jacinto river would be coming. I gathered only a bag of clothing, important papers, minimal snacks, and a Kindergarten workbook for my 5-year-old... and evacuated. Unfortunately, the HPD was correct in the evacuation order. Everything in our neighborhood is under 10+ feet of water and everything left in our home has been lost or damaged. I know I made the best decision leaving the monetary items behind and bringing my son to a safe location, but returning to our home will be extremely difficult. I am not looking forward to explaining to my 5-year old that all his sporting equipment, books, toys, clothing... everything is gone. I have great family and friends that are ready to get dirty and help us rebuild, and we are extremely thankful for everything. At the end of the day, we made it to a safe place while we wait for the waters to recede before we are able to go back and see what is left of our home. Replacing the important things and rebuilding everything that was lost during this storm is my main focus of this GoFundme, things including: beds, furniture, fridge, stove, washer/dry, A/C unit, flooring, clothing/shoes (5T boys/12 Shoe and myself), towels, food, walls, school supplies, building/cleaning supplies etc.
Anything will help, thank you and God Bless.
