As an owner of Explorations Africa , I travel to Africa several times a year on safari. I am truly passionate about Africa, her people, the wild spaces and animals that we are tasked with preserving - and more especially, I love enriching the lives of others by sharing these passions.
On a recent trip to Zambia I came across Project Luangwa and the wonderful Ufulu Pads that they create to provide girls with washable sanitary pads so that they can go to school during their period every month! You see, most girls in rural areas have to skip school for up to 10 days a month as they have no money or no access to sanitary ware. Ten days a month equates to a full year of missed education and this just broke my heart! I am fund raising to provide Ufulu (Freedom) packs for at least 500 girls in Africa - please help me to give these girls a chance at a proper education.
*Each pack consists of 5 washable and very pretty pads that are guaranteed to last for 2 years. A 'secret washing line' is also included - this enables the girls to wash their pads and hang them from a tree to dry inside the thin cotton bag - pretty and discreet!
* Each girls will be provided with ongoing education and support regarding menstruation, hygiene and sexual health by trained women in their village.
* Each pack only costs C$25 per girl and this will last her for 2 years ($1.04 per month). Transport for distribution has been included.
I am fund raising for the girls of Zimbabwe and your donation will not only be life-changing to a young lady in Africa but it will be sincerely appreciated! I also guarantee you that 100% of the funds raised will go to the Ufulu project in Africa.
