UF Sigma Phi Epsilon for FDC

The University of Florida's Sigma Phi Epsilon Surf Frenzy philanthropy is a yearly dance competition that raises crucial funds for the Florida Diabetes Camp (FDC).

FDC is a 501-4-c nonprofit that provides children and teenagers with type One diabetes overnights camps that stimulate them both physically and mentally. Under the watchful eye of nurses, volunteers, and endocrinologists kids can have a unique and safe summer camp experience. For years Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity has taken an active role in these camps by volunteering to be camp counselors, holding fundraising events, and educating others about type One diabetes. As counselors and FDC advocates, we aid the children in gaining the confidence to tackle their disease.

For many FDC is a life-enriching experience that allows them to better understand and care for their health. However, some do not have the monetary means to afford this invaluable opportunity. Every year FDC provides over 75,000 blood sugar tests, 50,000 insulin shots, and over 200 volunteers. The cost to sponsor a camper is $600, and vials of insulin are $80 each. With the aid of your donation, FDC will become a reality for more children.

These donations will allow children of all ages to live happier and healthier lives and to experience an atmosphere where they do not feel different from their peers. Donations will also aid in putting on the Surf Frenzy event to continue raising money. FDC's impact goes much further than the campground; it teaches children how to care for themselves for a lifetime. Thank you for your time, and we thank you for your interest.
