Early next month this wonderful woman will complete her 12th and final chemotherapy treatment in her battle with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. As only a school teacher could, our mother has greeted these challenging last few months with reason and reflection – A reminder that maximizing our time in this world is a daily goal each of us can do a better job of pursuing.

As she prepares to take “Step 13,” her children are celebrating her triumph by together attempting their first half-marathon in Toledo on April 22.

13 miles for 13 steps.

Throughout our final month of training, we invite friends and family to join in our mother’s celebration with simple donations beginning at $13.00 to our #TeamJen GoFundMe link below. After drawing much inspiration from Chicago Cubs star Anthony Rizzo’s story about beating the same disease, all proceeds in her name will benefit the Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation to support families with young children affected by cancer. Given all the cheer she has brought to young smiles in many an elementary school classroom over the years, it’s now time to cheer for her.
