UCSD History Faculty Aid for Graduate Students

Dear colleagues,
Thank you for your contributions to this fundraiser. The funds raised will go toward the relief of our graduate students. As many of us heard today, and not for the first time, the pandemic has heightened their precarity and impacted their ability to provide basic necessities such as food and housing. This is especially so during the summer when most will not receive a stipend from July until November.
We recognize this is a stressful time for many of us faculty. Please donate as much as you are able. This small step will provide immediate material relief for our graduate students and will show our care.
We set the goal at $10,000. Although it seems high we believe it is attainable if everyone pitches in. More importantly, $10,000 translates to approx. $150 per student. That will help pay for one month's worth of groceries.
