UCD Med vs Actuary Boxing: Fighting for Hugg
Donation protected
My name is Katie and I'm excited to be taking part in the UCD charity boxing event- Med v Actuary - on April 13th to raise funds for Hugg. Hugg's mission is to offer hope and healing for anyone bereaved by suicide. In 2016, my friend Milly died by suicide.
Each year in Ireland around 500 people take their own life – each suicide has a devastating and lasting impact on their families, friends and communities.
Hugg is a charity that is very close to me as it was established by Fiona Tuomey, Milly's mom. Devastated by Milly's sudden death, Fiona searched for a suicide support group in Dublin to help her with her grief but could not find one. So, in 2017, the first HUGG group was set up. The demand for new groups grew, so after discussion and research HUGG was established on 10 February 2018, Milly’s 14th birthday.
I am not a boxer but as my charity was chosen as the event charity I decided to get in the ring, I will do my best to make it a great event!
All ticket sales from the boxing event go directly to Hugg, so it will be an enjoyable night for a great cause. Please join me in supporting Hugg :)
