Summer Camp for Ukrainian Orphans

Tax deductible

My name is Luba Petrusha, and I have a request to make: would you consider helping save our summer camp for Ukrainian orphans? I have been volunteering every summer since 1998 at this camp for orphans in Ukraine . I love doing it--I love the kids, I love my colleagues, I love feeling I've helped make someone's life just a little bit better.  And the kids love the camps, too--many have told us that the time they spent at camp was the best two weeks of their lives.

The camps are organized by Приятелі Дітей (Help Us Help the Children of Ukaine), with support from UCARE, Inc. (Ukrainian Children's Aid and Relief Effort) of the USA.

In 2016 our Ukrainian corporate sponsor, who paid for a large share of camp expenses, backed out. Raising money in Ukraine has become problematic--with the war on, as there are so many competing needs and priorities. And raising money here in the US, among the Ukrainian Diaspora, is also harder than ever because of the war.

So we're trying to raise money other ways.  Even a few dollars will help.  We need to raise almost 10,000 dollars. It's a lot, but we're hoping for the best.  We managed to do it in 2016; I'm hoping we can do it again this year.  If we don't raise enough to save camp this year, the money will be rolled over into the 2018 camp fund.

UCARE, Inc. is  a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, and donations are tax-deductible in the USA.  Our website is http://www.ucareinc.org.  You can also visit our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/UCAREInc/

Please note: I have always paid my own airfair and living expenses when attending camp, as well as purchasing medications and other supplies.  None of the money raised will go towards my expenses, only towards paying for the actual cost of running the camp.
