Hey everyone! My name is Bayley Whittle. Three years ago I heard three little words "you have cancer" not once but, twice over the last three years. I have been battling lymphoma and luekemia. Surreal. Yet, I walked this journey and faced this challenge with more love, prayers and support than I could have ever imagined!
On June 15th, 2017 I underwent a Bone Marrow Transplant and we received a new set of three little words "NO Cancer Cells"! Needless to say GOD IS GOOD!
No evidence of disease! No Evidence of Disease AND 100% Donor DNA!
My transplant is working. The donor cells have taken over!
My donor = My cure!
I could not have walked this journey without my faith, my family, my friends and the support of so many others!
During this experience I realized that although Make A Wish and The American Cancer Society are amazing non-profits and help a lot of people, there was nothing to help young adults such as myself. One day while at chemo a kid, about 16 years old, was sitting across from me. I, 20 years old at the time, was puking in a trash can and had my mom there to wipe my mouth off with a rag. At this same time I see this kid, also doing chemo and throwing up, going through that by himself. No momma, no family, just him. This man was facing hell on his own. I realized right then and there that I had nothing to complain about. This takes me to my next point...

If you know me, then you know I’m positive in all aspects of the word. There is always going to be adversity, you can find it in even the best of situations. With that being said there are always blessings in even the worst of situations! I am always a glass full kind of guy. I would go to chemo for the last week of every month. I would come home (I was living in the frat house at the time) and by that next Thursday I was out with my frat brothers. I was determined not to center my life around being sick! I was Bayley Whittle, a Chi Phi at West Georgia first and a cancer patient second. If someone didn’t tell you I had cancer, you wouldn’t know.
On February 15, 2016 I was diagnosed, and on November 10th, 2016 I was officially “in remission.”
March 29th, I got a call that I needed to come in to see my doctor at Emory University Hospital. There, I heard the words I dreaded to hear. “It’s back…” I replied with “What’s the plan?”
The doctor informed me that the only option was to undergo a transplant, so on June 21, 2017 I underwent a full donor cell bone marrow transplant. They told me I would be in the hospital for two months, with a tv the size of a postage stamp. That first week bed ridden with no tv sucked! I was in my own head too much and began to become depressed (a feeling I had never really understood or had.)
Then something happened that honestly changed a lot for me. A small non-profit showed up and gave me an Xbox, but I still couldn’t play it on that tv. Then my friends from Kennesaw State showed up and had an extra tv. They brought it to me to borrow. Y’all this saved me. It sounds stupid, but it’s true. Then as I felt better through out the weeks, I thought to my self, how can I help others like me!? If something as small as a tv can help someone, then imagine the life you can touch in a family that has nothing, or an individual that feels like he/she has nothing to fight for!
That was the birth of uCANcervive Inc.
I am now the founder of a 501(c)3. I have helped two kids, buying them tv’s and game systems out of my own pocket, before they underwent their transplant. My long term goal is to be able to do something like Make A Wish. It would be a little different though. To me, Make A Wish sends you on your last vacation in a sense, but I want to give these young adults something to live for. So after they beat cancer’s ass, they get to celebrate with a free vacation for their family with no financial worries, considering they probably have accumulated enough of that already.
We are a non-profit that’s here to provide Hope, Encouragement, and Recourses to young adults affected by cancer
