My name is Johannes Dohl, and I am working toward earning my Eagle Scout Rank with Boy Scout Troop 8 in Chatham, New Jersey. For my Eagle Scout project, I plan to build two mobile whiteboards as valuable additions to the outdoor classroom spaces at my former elementary school, Unity Charter School. With a focus on environmental sustainability, Unity Charter School encourages learning in nature. While the school has two main outdoor teaching areas, they lack formal teaching stations. My project aim is to enhance these spaces by providing structured learning tools that will help teachers be more effective and keep students engaged while learning outdoors.

These teaching stations will feature mobile whiteboards housed in protective cabinets to shield them from the elements. They will be designed to remain stable, with built-in weight support for strong winds. A roof will offer additional weather protection, and a wheel system will allow for easy mobility. To ensure durability without excessive weight, they will be constructed using a combination of wood and aluminum.

This project will make a meaningful impact on the school by offering teachers and students an innovative way to learn, spark creativity, and foster collaboration. My goal is to complete the project in time for the start of the Fall 2025 school year.

Ultimately, I hope these outdoor classrooms will become a lasting resource for Unity Charter School, benefiting future students by providing a functional and inspiring space for learning. It’s incredibly rewarding to give back to the school that gave me so much. This project is not just about earning my Eagle Scout rank—it’s about leaving a meaningful legacy that will have a lasting impact.
