Fight Cancer with April #TocciTough

Donation protected
On January 2nd, April was driving home and experienced a bout of extreme pain that nearly caused her to passed out .  A visit to the emergency room revealed that she has late-stage metastatic cancer. She had been experiencing episodes of abdominal pain for months, and though she had sought help from doctors to determine the cause, the bloodwork and tests they performed kept coming back normal. After a week in the hospital, April was released to go home with very strong medications and a life altering diagnosis of cancer.   Her immune system is also compromised making it all the more important that she keep safe during COVID-19.

Doctors suspect that April has Ovarian Cancer. Tests are still being performed to determine the exact origin, and the origin will determine what stage she is in. They suspect stage 3 or 4. She is on strong medication to manage the pain, which prevents her from being able to work.

April is facing months of treatment, beginning with surgery within the next couple of weeks, and including some form of chemotherapy. She is resilient, but this is going to be a difficult road. April is a single mom to 15-year-old Aiden, and the caregiver of her grandmother, who lives with them. She works with the City of Plano as a 9-1-1 dispatcher and she is damn good at it!  She is an unseen and many times unsung hero using her voice to guide callers to the help they need and keeping our officers safe while they protect our city.  We miss her greatly, and she is anxious to be allowed to return once she is able.

She is caring and shares kindness with everyone she meets and is a bright spot in the dispatch center.    She is taking this diagnosis in stride and is committed to beating this cancer.  While she is in a lot of pain she is still in high spirits. She has shown her resilience and positivity as she consistently tells herself and those around her "I will fight, and I will win."

The details of her treatment plan are tentative pending more tests and doctors consultations.  We will do our best to keep everyone updated as we learn more.  All donations are very much appreciated!  The funds will contribute to her mounting medical expenses and life necessities as she fights for her future.
