Help Us Go To Worlds

Midwest City Elementary started a new Odyssey of the Mind team this year. Odyssey of the Mind is a creative problem-solving program involving students from kindergarten through college. This specific team is made up of four fourth graders. The team members work together at length to solve a predefined long-term problem and present their solution to the problem at a competition. They must also participate in the spontaneous portion of the competition by generating solutions to a problem they have not seen before. While the long-term problem solution often takes many months to complete and involves various elements of theatrical performance, construction and design, the spontaneous portion occurs the day of the competition. The team competed for the first time in February at the regional competition where they came in fourth for their division and securing a spot at the state tournament. The team competed in the state tournament on April 7th and placed 2nd in their division securing a spot at the words tournament. The words tournament will be held May 23-26 at Iowa State University. This is a once in a life time opportunity for these amazing students. With very little time to prepare funds to take the team to worlds, the team is in need of financial assistance to make it to Iowa. Every little bit will help the team make it to worlds, we thank you for donating and helping our students.
