Hi everyone my name is Sandy Rosales, I am 16 years old, and I live in San Bernardino County. Just recently I applied to attend the High SchoolSummer Focus program at UC Berkeley. Summer Focus at Berkeley is a 6 week program for high school students that are motivated about going to college. In this program I would be able to take college classes at Berkeley and would also get support getting ready for college. There will also be many college preparation courses like; SAT Test Prep, College 101: How to Survive College!; Prepping for and Writing College Applications; Treasures of UC Berkley: Library Online; Play Hard by Learning to Study Easy; How to Find Money for College; Choosing a College That Best Suits You and When I Grow Up… Career Series Part IV: The Big Interview.
Which will all help me prepare for college.
I'm really looking forward to participating in this program because this opportunity would benefit my future by showing me what to prepare for and more. I looked into attending UC Berkeley once I graduate high school and being able to attend for the summer would honestly be a dream come true, and a once in a lifetime opportunity. I have worked really hard throughout all my education and strive to succeed. I have maintained my GPA over 4.0 since my freshmen year by taking Honor/AP classes. I am the oldest of 4 and I have always wanted to set a good example for them and prove to them that it pays off when you work for it.
I submitted my application and grades and I was ACTUALLY selected to have the opportunity to attend. But unfortunately, the price to attend is a bit out of my familys budget. This program does provide some help with paying tuition, but the rest is up to my family.
The program starts July 1st, I know it's coming really soon, but we are working really hard to find a way to pay it. Any amount of money given would be greatly appreciated and will help. Even a share of this post would mean a lot to me. Thank you everyone for your support.
