Philippines Mission Trip

In November of this year, I will be among a group of selected students from Year Ten at St Philip’s Christian College Gosford who will be participating in a mission trip to the Philippines. This will be a challenging and exciting venture for me as we will work among children in the slums of Manila. For this to be possible we are doing various fund raising activities and seeking individual financial support.
I know you have a heart for the poor and hope you are able to support me in this work.
We will be partnering with Baseco Missions, Manilla.
Baseco is around One square km of reclaimed land, with an estimated 16,500 families living on it in abject poverty. The average family size is mum, dad and 4-6 children, with extremes where families have more than 10 children.
Even with the lowest population estimate we have 125 000 people living in the slums.
There will be another slum area where we work, which will be far worse than baseco which will help us as students understand the scale of poverty, as well as impact us as a human to raise awareness to the rest of the world about the challenges people face daily.
In order to help these families we will build & renovate houses, plan activities for the young children as well as teach the youth of the community.
We will be running various fund raising activities over the next 6 months to help us reach our expenses for what is definitely not a holiday but I hope will be a life changing experience for me.
Unfortunately, this will not be sufficient to cover the costs so am seeking financial support. I am hoping my friends and family may be able to assist me in this venture and be a part of this opportunity.
As they say “many hands make light work” and if 20 people are able to support me for $50 it will go a long way to cover my expenses. Even donations as little as $5 can help me and the children of the Philippines. This is only an example and I will be grateful for any support.
