<div>I’m still speechless about the incredible amount of money collected and very excited to deliver it soon.

<div>After spending several weekends personally engaging with the community in Algemesí and speaking extensively with many residents, I, together with the help of my friends and their neighbors, have carefully selected twelve families who have been most affected by the floods and are in urgent need of support. These families are facing significant challenges, such as damage to their homes, loss of essential belongings, and financial hardship. The funds raised will be used to provide direct assistance to help them recover and rebuild, whether through repairing their homes, replacing lost necessities, or covering urgent expenses. I am committed to ensuring this support makes a meaningful difference in their lives.

<div>Those families do not know yet and it will be a big surprise for them.
</div>
<div>I will keep you all posted with pictures and updates when the money is delivered within the next two to three weeks latest.

<div>Liebe Familie, Freunde, Nachbarn und Bekannte,

<div>ich bin Sascha Lichtenstein, lebe in Valencia und habe das gleiche Anliegen.

<div>Am 29. Oktober veränderte sich das Leben Tausender Menschen in der Provinz Valencia.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Mehr als 220 Opfer und mehr als 800.000 Betroffene aus 69 Städten. Sie haben ihr Haus, ihr Auto, Familienmitglieder und einiges mehr verloren.

<div>Eine der betroffenen Städte, Algemesí, hat mich persönlich berührt.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Sie liegt südlich von Valencia und ist eine der am weitesten von der Hauptstadt entfernten Städte. Zusammen mit der Zerstörung der Autobahn, die ganz Ostspanien verbindet und durch Algemesí führt, hat dies dazu geführt, dass die Bevölkerung noch isolierter ist und alles später ankommt.

<div>Mein Freund Vicent kommt aus Algemesí. Seit ich in Valencia lebe, hat er mir mit viel Herz und Begeisterung alle valencianischen Traditionen näher gebracht. Durch ihn habe ich nicht nur viel über die Kultur gelernt, sondern auch viele Menschen im Ort kennengelernt.

<div>Seine Eltern haben alles verloren, weil der Regen ohne Vorwarnung in ihr Haus eindrang. In 30 Minuten reichte ihnen das Wasser bis zur Hüfte und sie mussten mit über 70 Jahren alles wegwerfen und von vorne anfangen.

<div>Vom ersten Tag an habe ich ihnen und allen Menschen, die ich dort kenne, geholfen, den Schlamm aus ihren Häusern und Geschäften zu entfernen.
</div>

</div>
<div>In Algemesí, wie in allen Städten Valencias, sind viele Häuser nur eingeschossig gebaut und alle wurden von Überschwemmungen heimgesucht.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Autos, Garagen und Besitztümer verschwanden in Sekundenschnelle und hinterließen trostlose Bilder auf den Straßen.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Es ist schwierig , ja eigentlich unmöglich in Worte zu fassen, was all diese Menschen erlebt haben.
</div>

</div>
<div>Der Großteil der Hilfe kommt den Gebieten zugute, die noch stärker betroffen sind und die man aus dem Fernsehen kennt. Das ist natürlich wichtig, aber leider erhält so nicht jeder Betroffene die Unterstützung, die er braucht.

<div>Zehn Tage nach dieser humanitären Tragödie ist der Alltag eine echte Herausforderung.
</div>

</div>
<div>Zum Glück musste ich bisher noch nie um existenzielle Hilfe bitten, aber jetzt ist es an der Zeit, dies für meine Freunde zu tun.
</div>

<div>Durch die täglichen Gespräche mit ihnen ist mir klar geworden, dass ich helfen muss und arbeite jetzt daran, ihnen bspw. Betten, Matratzen, Decken und ähnliche wichtige Dinge für den täglichen Bedarf zu besorgen...

<div>On October 29, the lives of thousands of people in the province of Valencia changed.

<div>One of the affected towns, Algemesí, touched me personally.
</div>

<div>It is located south of Valencia and is one of the furthest cities from the capital. This, together with the disruption of the highway that connects all of eastern Spain and passes through Algemesí, has resulted in the population being even more isolated and everything arriving later.

<div>My friend Vicent is from Algemesí. Since I have been living in Valencia, he has introduced me to all Valencian traditions with a lot of heart and enthusiasm. Through him, I have not only learned a lot about the culture, but also got to know many people in the town.
</div>

<div>His parents lost everything because the rain entered their house without warning. In 30 minutes the water was up to their waists and, over 70 years old, they had to throw everything away and start over.
</div>

<div>From day one, I have helped them and everyone I know there to clean the mud from their homes and businesses.
</div>

</div>
<div>In Algemesí, as in all Valencian towns, many houses have only one storey and all have been affected by floods.

<div>Cars, garages and belongings disappeared in seconds, leaving desolate scenes on the streets.
</div>

<div>It is difficult, actually impossible, to put into words what all these people have experienced.

<div>The majority of the aid goes to the areas that are even more severely affected and that you see on television. This is of course important, but unfortunately not everyone affected receives the support they need.

<div>Ten days after this humanitarian tragedy, everyday life is a real challenge.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Luckily, I've never had to ask for existential help before, but now it's time to do it for my friends.
</div>

<div>They will need so many things that they lost.

<div>Through daily conversations with them, I realized that I have to help and am now working on getting them beds, mattresses, blankets and similar important things for their daily needs.
