Slaughter Horse Needs Your Help

On December 10th 2016 a boarder at my friends barn had two rescue horses trailered here from Louisiana and brought to the barn. The horses were supposed to be quarantined down there for 30 days prior to coming and were supposed to be arriving with clean health certificates. When the horses finally got to the barn and they opened the trailer door it was horrifying. It was a 5 horse trailer with at least 12 horses packed onto it. They had no food or water, half the horses were loose and the floor was covered feces and urine.
The first horse to come off the trailer was Chance a black and white Gypsy Vanner Cob cross 15 years old and besides being skinny and having a swollen eye seemed to be ok. The second horse though Sterling was anything but ok. He was skin and bones 15.3 hands and only about 800 pounds, covered in cuts, and was so weak he could barely stand let alone walk up the driveway to the barn. We didn't think Sterling was going to make it through the night. Surprisingly though once he got Settled into the barn, had some food, water, and care you could see the life in his eyes coming back.
Until one morning a few days later we came into the barn and he was stuck on the ground unable to get himself back up. The vet got to the barn by 9 and was there until 4 trying to get him up. Finally 8 hours later he was standing up on his own again. We all knew though if anything like this was to happen again Sterling was going to have to be put to sleep it would not be fair to put him through all of this again. Soon on after everything happened with Sterling without getting into anyone's personal business the horses were now left Danielle's responsibility.
Sterling was always in good spirits and greeted everyone who walked into the barn, sadly about three weeks later he went down again and this time everyone knew this was going to be it. We made him as comfortable as possible until the vet came and he peacefully passed away with his head in Danielle's lap.
Chance’s swollen eye was not getting any better so the vet had to come back out and look at him again. She found a bump on his eyelid and said he has melanoma in his eye and that he was going to need treatment. This hit very close to home for Danielle since she also has melanoma in her eye. Danielle bought Chance his first round of Chemotherapy but that's not the end of the treatment he is going to need done on his eye. Chance still has more treatment he has to go through and he has to have a surgery to remove the melanoma bump on his eye that he needs done within the next few weeks.
After everything Chance has been through he has the most loving attitude and shows Danielle and everyone he meets so much affection. Chance deserves a shot at a second chance however vet bills are overwhelming and his treatment of course isn't cheap. Any help would be greatly appreciated and we will upload vet bills, pictures, and Chance’s Progress along the way.
