Psychiatric Help for Jon ("Tuna")

Donation protected
Hey friends, family, and "friendfamily!"

Many of you already know a bit about Jon's story, but I'll summarize it here for those who don't.

For the past 18 years, Jon has lived in a mentally and emotionally oppressive and abusive household. His parents do want the best for him and seem to love him, but their methods were extraordinarily misguided. After meeting him online through our mutual love for the Na'vi language, Jon explained his situation to me and, through multiple "coincidences," It became clear to me that I was being compelled to rescue him from that situation. I drove to Arizona, picked him up, and took him back to my own house. He has been living with Heather and I for 4 months now, and will likely remain with us until he is fully able to stand on his own two feet.

So many of you have already been extremely helpful to him and to us, but Jon's mental state is still in the red zone and his life is more and more at risk the longer he goes without proper help.

Being from out of state with no job and no money, Jon has been unable to receive the kind of psychiatric care that he needs in order to undo the damage that his parents did, unintentional or otherwise.

We have attempted to work with his parents' insurance, but ultimately they turned us down because they are operated by the state of Arizona and cannot help with out-of-state care. Since he is over 18 and not legally related to Heather and I, we cannot add him to our insurance either.

So, here we are. As I am writing this, Jon is being evaluated at the Methodist Richardson Medical Center ER. I have been informed that the costs will likely exceed $10,000. The hospital staff have told me that they will attempt every charity program they have available, but it's not very likely that even half would be covered. As much as Heather and I would love to cover the costs for him ourselves, we simply cannot afford that alone. It is my sincere hope that as family and friends we can band together to show Jon that we care about him, something that he doubts, and more importantly we can show him the unconditional love of Christ by coming together, working together, and helping him climb out of this dark time.

Thank you all for any assistance you can give.
