UAMS/ACH Supporting UAB

On September 7th, over two dozen UAB Hospital pediatric interns were on a bus that crashed in Alabama. Two interns were seriously injured, and 11 were hospitalized.

UAB and UAMS/ACH share a common goal of training excellent pediatricians, most of whom will go on to serve communities in the south. Many graduates of UAMS go on to train at UAB, and many UAB graduates come to train here.

It hits close to home when we see the UAB program hurt by the accident affecting their residents and their hospital system as a whole, and we as good neighbors should do what we can to help them in their struggle.

Many do not realize that residents are not paid full physician salaries, and that these residents will likely share some of the cost in treating their injuries. Money raised in this fundraiser will be used at the UAB program director's discretion to help offset costs for those affected, whether it be medical bills, meals for residents and staff, gift cards for morale boosts for other residents filling in for their colleagues, etc. 100% of donations will go directly to the UAB Pediatric resident program.
