UAC Fund - PPE for frontline healthcare workers

Our Goal:  To raise $10000  to buy PPE for frontline healthcare workers in hospitals and nursing homes in states overwhelmed by rising Covid cases.

Not long after the reopening of the economy, we are facing a dire situation:  Covid cases continue to surge. In the month of June, Coronavirus cases more than doubled in at least 14 U.S. states, including Florida and Texas, a Reuters analysis on June 30th showed. Arizona recorded the biggest jump in cases for the month at 294%, followed by South Carolina and Arkansas. (Open ). According to Dr. Anthony Fauci, one of the nation’s leading health officials, the new infections could increase to 100,000 a day if the nation doesn’t get its surge of cases under control.

Over the weekend, the covid infections reached new high with Friday number setting the record. Worldwide number of cases topped 10 million.  Yet in the US, what we have been facing is a dire calamity: the virus has infected more than 2 million people in the United States and taken more than 127,000 lives. Daily new cases have been more than doubled from 20 thousand in mid-June to now 48 thousand a day.  Nationally cases rose by at least 43% and deaths increased by 20%. Several states have yet to report cases on June 30th (Open https://tmsnrt.rs/3dM9TLE in an external browser for a Reuters interactive).  The resurgences of the Covid patients once again exert strains on hospitals, calling for more PPEs for healthcare professionals and workers.

The divergency of the curves (see above chart) of the new Covid cases for the US and the EU is said to be one of the major reasons that the US citizens are banned from traveling to EU countries.   We cannot imagine how much damage the epidemic could bring along should the situation not be contained. The nation is in the midst of crises, and the situation is getting worse, as said by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. We need to make greater effort to flatten the curve and it is high time to stand up for the fight against the pandemic and keep the situation under control.  Virus, like a monster, is not easily conquered.  But we will achieve ultimate triumph with your help, determination and efforts.

Let’s contribute to the fight against Covid-19!  What everyone can do is to help to protect frontline health workers with sufficient PPE, especially for those in the states that are overwhelmed by spiking Covid cases. The frontline healthcare workers have been sacrificing themselves to save lives of others.  Can we do something to protect them?  If everyone can contribute a little, together we make a huge difference.Your donations are important to them!

Let’s take action!  Save lives, save the world.
