Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read about Mario Gomez' fight. I want to take a moment to highlight the good in this not-so-good story. Mario has been a part of the Prescott Valley Community for quite some time. You may know him without even realizing you've crossed paths. Mario has coached little league and softball for years. You may have run into him on the sidelines of the softball fields or even had children who played for or against his teams!
Mario is also your friendly, local UPS man. Last year he was the recipient of the 'Circle of Honor’ award for 25 years of safe driving. Mario loves his community and he is passionate in all aspects of his life. He is a neighbor, father and loving husband: and he needs our help.
On July 22nd, Mario a diabetic, received a life changing prognosis. Blood poisoning has caused complications in his kidneys and bladder. In this grave time of need, the community, as well as friends and family of the Gomez', came together and helped raise over 5,000 dollars. Mario's family could not believe the outpouring of kindness and help they received. The funds that were raised helped cover the cost of medical bills, as well as supplement their family income after his wife, Yanette had to take time from work to care for her husband.
Mario has been recovering in his home in Prescott Valley but due to complications from surgery, his prognosis has worsened. His family is now providing around the clock care in addition to the costly care of an in home nurse. Because of the time they have taken away from their jobs, they are growing increasingly concerned with the mounting bills as they try to focus on helping Mario fight this battle.
