Lara's Medical Fund

Lara is a hardworking mother of two children who lives in Yonkers, NY. She works full time as a Teacher’s Assistant for children who have special needs.  ‪She also works the night shift at a residential home for adults with mental illness. To her family, friends, and to the students she teaches, she is known as a loving, caring, empathetic person who gives 100% in everything she does. 

In the Summer of 2017 Lara was misdiagnosed with a non-cancerous tumor on her cochlea. Although symptoms (such as hearing loss and vertigo) aligned with this disagnosis, new symptoms (such as partial facial paralysis) led to hospitalization over the Christmas break. Lara found out her tumor is actually dangerously close to the brain stem and requires immediate surgery to remove. 

Lara would have already undergone emergency surgery if it was not for her two children at home. She is a single-mom and works one full-time job and one part-time job to support her family. She is currently making arrangements for her children to be taken care of so that she can have surgery. She will be out of work for at minimum a month. Her surgery is scheduled for January 29th. 

Disability payment in NY does not come close to covering the amount of her normal paychecks and will not cover her bills while she is unable to work. 

We, her friends, are trying to raise money to help cover the cost of her bills while she is out of commision. This money will help provide food for her children, pay rent, and cover the cost of medical bills. We remain hopeful and we humbly ask for your support. Your donation would help Lara as it would be one less thing to worry about while she works on her recovery. No gift would be too small and all will go towards the abovementioned expenses.
