Support for Dwayne Council and Family

     During the summer of mid July 2020, Dwayne begin to feel bad while working the summer school program.  His condition worsened by the end of the week of July 11, 2020.  He went to the emergency room because of shortening of breath and pain.  After having a chest X-ray it was discovered he had double pneumonia with both lungs being filled with clots and he tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.  He was immediately placed on oxygen and admitted. Two days  later after an ultra sound on his lower body, they found clots behind his knees. He was treated for clots and later released from the Hospital on the July 17th.  

     While recovering he was unable to return to work until September 1, 2020, which he had already completely exhausted all of his sick leave. On October 11th, he was instructed to do a follow-up with a series of test to ensure that the clots hadn’t returned.  While his lungs continued to heal from the effects of the clots, more test were administered only to receive the results, that fluid was discovered on his heart.  He was directed to take an echocardiogram, which revealed that his heart was functioning at 25%.  He was referred to a cardiologist who immediately instructed that he could no longer work and was issued a life vest. 

     He was immediately placed on specific heart medication  with hopes of improving the functionality, this was done for three months with no success after a heart MRI showed the same percentages. The doctors determined that this was a direct result of the Covid-19 virus attacking his heart. With the medications not showing improvements, in the month of February a pacemaker/defibrillator was inserted to insure his safety.  

     He has since been referred to a transplant review board to possibly get on the heart transplant list.  He is currently in the process of getting a heart catherization on April 14, 2021. This GoFundMe is created to help Dwayne and his wife cover the medical expenses, medications, and home expenses as they get through this difficult time. 

     Jeanie is now the sole source of income for  the family and will need a lot of help since Dwayne can no longer work.  Please help as much as you can to help ease their pain in this very stressful time.
