CODY NEEDS YOUR HELP

Our precious 8-year-old boy pup, Cody, was being cared for by a dear friend while we were on a much-needed vacation.  He went on a play date, jumped up and landed awkwardly on the tile floor, splaying his hips out.  He was unable to use his legs at that point. Our friend took him to his doctor the next day, where she had to make a life threaten decision,  without being able to contact me, to have him be given medicine that he definitely needed within 24 hours of the injury. He had to have blood work before the medicine was given and my friend made sure he was given everything necessary for his best care.  It was thought then that he had inter vertebral disk disease.  Once we returned and  revisited with his doctor, she recommended we take Cody to a neurologist, since his legs were only showing a small sign of use.  I took him to see the doctor (I was there 8 hours) and after having x-rays and a CT scan, Cody was now diagnosed with  a herniated  disc on his left side which is pressing on his spinal nerve.  With surgery he can have a full recovery, without it he will never have the use of his back legs properly.  He currently is only to walk to go to the bathroom.  No stairs, no jumping, not even a slight walk.  He is to remain in his crate, which luckily he likes, so he does not further injure himself. As many of you know, Cody is a "jumper". He LOVES to jump and do front paw stands while he urinates (sometimes on the lawn, mostly down his chest).  Even his walk has a sort of little hop to it.   This is very difficult for me to ask people for help, but I am really asking on Cody's behalf.  To see him falling over, when he tries to walk is heartbreaking, it truly is.  He even still tries to run and hop and I have to quickly stop him.  We need to raise this money as soon as possible since every day we delay increases the chance of him not being able to use his back legs.   The funds raised will be used to surgically repair the damage and return him to the running, jumping and happy boy that we truly love.  He will have to stay at the hospital for 2-3 days after surgery.  The doctor would like to do the operation this Wednesday if the funds can be collected by then.  If we raise more than requested amount, I would like to help another dog that needs surgery and give the funds to them on Cody's behalf.  If that party doesn't want or need assistance, we will donate to Muttville, a non-profit, no-kill Senior Dog Rescue organization based in San Francisco.    Cody is a family member and means the world to us. We call him our “Emotional Support Pup” because he always knows when one of use needs that extra lick on the face or that much needed cuddle. From the very first time that Cody looked up at us with his big huge brown eyes, we knew that he was put on this earth to rescue us!  Any of you who have had the chance to actually meet Cody, know what a WONDERFUL little dog he is.  He will lick your face all day,  (he says sorry about the bad breath), or jump up in your lap to make you feel loved.   He loves to run on the beach or in the grass.  Everyone that meets him immediately falls in love with him, as we have.   I know that is is a large amount to ask for, but even if only 400 people  gave $25 each, we could be able to reach our goal.
