Help the Smith Family

Donation protected
The Smith family has been close friends of mine for over 20 years. They have always been there to help others. But the time has sadly come when they need help more than ever.
In 2001 Orran was diagnosed as a type 1 diabetic. However because of the wear already showing on his body its likely he had been suffering for much longer.
In 2014 came the shocking news that he would need bypass surgery.  The surgery was done and was thought to be successful. In the days following the surgery Lori began to notice something was not right. It was then confirmed that Orran had suffered a stroke along with the stroke he lost his vision and was rendered blind. After the stroke he had to learn the daily skills of walking,talking,eating.....etc all over again. Orran along with the support of his wife Lori and three children was determined to do what he needed to do.
Since 2014 there have been many hospitalizations for various reasons.
Things have taken a turn for the worst the last 2 1/2 months.
He spent one week in the hospital in June. Three weeks in the hospital in July. Thankfully he was able to get out just long enough to go with his family to the regional convention. Shortly thereafter was admitted back to the hospital and as of today (9-17-18) has been there 5 weeks. He had infection that started in his toe and has resulted in having only 1/3 of his foot left after amputation of the infected area. Just last week they  called Lori to the hospital in the middle of the night as he had begun to hemorrhage from a blood clot in his foot. He currently has osteomyelitis in his foot. Which simply put is infection in the bone. The goal is to get him well enough to go to rehab and then home. However at this point they have to find somewhere to live that will accommodate his needs. Since they are currently living on the second floor.
It has truly been a financial struggle for the basic needs of the family to be met. Lori while taking care of Orran and her three children has been working two jobs. One keeping children in her home and another running a business she has been trying to get up and running called Candy Catered. But these last few months she has not been able to work at all due to the constant care of Orran's needs. Extra expenses are now being incurred with going back and forth to the hospital. While also trying to maintain things at home for the kids. The family has needed help for a long time but never wanted to ask. In the short term I want to help them with their basic daily needs. With a goal of helping them have the money to move so that once Orran can come home he has a safe place to come to. On behalf of the Smith family I want to thank you in advance for any help you can provide. Please feel free to share their story.
