Hi everyone! Thank you so much for checking out our page - this is Wren, my 19 month old Lab. She was brought home to become a life-changing assistance dog, taking over Willow's duties. Very long story short she’s got some congenital malformations and structural abnormalities in her spine, sacrum and pelvis that she’s been born with. It’s been a long 8 months since her initial scans trying different pain management options to get her more comfortable. Her case is extremely unique and she’s been described as a once in a career dog. Unfortunately all options available to her have failed and she significantly and quickly deteriorated 5 weeks ago landing her in the vets as a pts case. We changed specialist to someone that’s more knowledgeable on the ‘weird and wonderful’ (his words) and she underwent additional testing. Her specialist has confirmed that she would be a candidate for a bespoke surgery, fitting custom plates made specifically for her to which would ‘fix’ her structural issues and stabilise her unique anatomy. She'd finally be pain free for the first time in her short life. Although she’s insured for £12k we have burnt through the majority to reach this point and with limited resources left, funding her custom plates, surgery, post-op rehabilitation and any possible complications before her insurance refreshes next June is a huge concern. I'm not usually one to ask for help, but without this surgery Wren will be pts and after all she has been through she truly deserves a chance at a happy, pain-free life. Thank you so much for taking the time to read her story and for your support ❤️
