Salt-Water Moon in the Park

Donation protected
Hi there,

We are putting on a production of one of the greatest scripts in Canadian Theatre, Salt-Water Moon. Set in outport Newfoundland in 1926, we are telling the story of two young people who are fighting to make choices that will improve their lives and their circumstances. A love story and ode to the human spirit, our play will transport the audience through time and space.

This transportation is made easier by the fact that this is an outdoor production, near the shores of Lake Ontario, and is a total escape from the city of Toronto. The goal of this project is to create a quality work of theatre for the community, so they can come out to a park they may have never been to before, and enjoy the story along with the great outdoors.

This is Strive Theatre Company's First Production, and I Jackson Fowlow as the founder and producer want to say thank you for coming here, and for considering to donate. We are completely a not for profit, currently being funded by my tip money earned as a server, and any funds raised over our goal will go towards future productions for the company.

This is a minimal, bare bones set production which we feel lends itself well to the script. Our production budget is 1,700, so every dollar you donate goes to helping pay for the following things:

- The performance rights to do the play
- Rehearsal space bookings
- Venue Liability Insurance
- Union Policy Fees
- Lighting
- Production Materials
- Set & Costumes
- Park Venue Staff Fees
- Advertising/Promotional Materials

The Artists, which includes myself as Actor, Marina Gwynne as Actor, Craig Pike as Director, and Murphy Diggon as Stage Manager, will be paid entirely and solely by the box office earnings, and you can reserve your seats here: https://saltwater-strive.brownpapertickets.com

Strive Theatre was founded on the belief that the best performances are when we see characters fighting with high stakes, and doing the best they can. We like to think thats what everyone is doing all the time - the best that they can. We exist to provide a place where actors can be pushed to give the best performances of their lives, and know that witnessing someone struggle on stage can inspire someone in their own life to make a change and grow.

Thank you, very sincerely, for contributing to this project. You are literally making this project happen, and improving the community and Toronto's East End while doing so. This is the first time there has been theatre allowed in the park, and we hope it can become the start of something which continues into the future.

For friends with whom we no longer live in the same city, donating is a great way to show some support and love!

Every donation will be thanked in the program, and donations over $200 can receive a logo posted within the the posters and programs.

***You may have noticed that today, Sept 17th, we have just raised our goal to 2,500. This is because, as a first time producer, I did not foresee some of the unexpected costs of production, and Indeed have already spent more than this amount. Thanks once again for all of your support***
