Flood Damage Recovery

Donation protected
Back in March, north Louisiana got over half their annual rainfall in just a couple of days. It was actually reffered to as the 1,000 year flood, and many many homes in the area flooded. On March 9, water started entering Joe and Kristy's (my brother and sister-in-law) home. With nowhere for the water to go, their home had 15" of water standing in the living room and 10" everywhere else for over two weeks! Not only was this rain and bayou water, but the sewage system was overwhelmed and water started backing up and coming out of their plumbing in reverse (I'll let you paint your own picture here). For a few days, their only way in and out of their neighborhood was by boat.

Just this week (last week of March) all of the water finally receded and they've been able to start the demo. It will pretty much be a complete gut job of the house. They've ripped out all of the sheet rock and carpet.

Many of you have asked how you can help, so that's why I'm here starting this account. At this point, they really just need financial help, unless you are willing to travel and hang sheetrock or lay tile and carpet. Their furniture has all been moved out and demolition has started. They did not have flood insurance so everything they will have to purchase and every contractor they will have to pay will be out of pocket.

If you feel led to give, I know they will appreciate whatever you can offer.
