To Africa and Beyond…
My personal focus this last year has been to love others well, whether at work, at home, at church, or at play. Every interaction with another human being has been and continues to be an opportunity to do so! I love that I get to invest in children of all ages as well as in adults. As many of you already know, I have had the incredible opportunity to work with a wider span of students this year in my job. After teaching Kinder/First Grade for 22+ years, I began a new position last fall. I’ve been teaching English Learners as well as providing reading support in grades K-5. I have loved the challenge of a new focus, which has given me extra time to pursue writing and the ability to continue my involvement with Celebrate Recovery at Rocky Peak Church.
Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered 12 step program designed to help people gain freedom from any hurt, habit or hang-up. The program is 26 years old and it is in churches, sober living homes, rescue missions, and in prisons all over the world. I have been involved with Celebrate Recovery since 2001. In 2007, I was part of a team that facilitated its launch at Rocky Peak Church. CR has radically helped me transform the way I do relationship- with God, with myself and with others. Over the past four years, it has been my joy to train, equip, and develop leaders as the Training Coach for Rocky Peak’s Celebrate Recovery. This summer, a team from our Celebrate Recovery will travel to Uganda to train and strengthen leaders in their efforts to grow this life-changing ministry in their own hometowns and churches. I have been asked to be a part of this team!
The trip to Uganda is a service we will be providing and each of us will be raising funds to cover the cost. $3000.00 per person includes airfare and training materials. Would you please consider investing in me and in this opportunity to equip those who are asking to be empowered to serve others through this powerful ministry? Consider giving $20.00. If each one of you gives at least $20.00, there will be enough to send me! Nonetheless, any amount is accepted! You may give funds by July 19. I will be posting photos and updates about the trip on Facebook and by email.
Additionally, I would like to ask you to pray for me and the team as we prepare to go. Pray we focus on the most important material on which the leaders there need training and encouragement. Pray we remain open to God’s Spirit as He directs us in the planning process. While we are there, please pray for our unity. Pray for our safety and for our protection. Pray for our clear communication and for our effective equipping of the leaders there. Pray for us to love well.

If the trip is cancelled, your contribution will be used for other mission purposes at the discretion of church leadership. Because of restrictions in the Internal Revenue Code, Rocky Peak is unable to return this contribution for any reason.
