Hi my name is Cherie Sweetapple and i am 24 years old from NZ.
It all started in 2011 when i joined the military. I always knew i wanted to travel. I did. A little bit. Untill 2015 when my eczema when from mild to severe. I had no idea what the cause was for this extreme breakout! I had a inflammed red rash all over my body constantly, unless i was taking strong amounts of steriods. It got worse in 2016 and i was placed on immune suppresents, they didnt work so i was placed on even stronger ones whilst still taking steriods. Nothing worked. 2017 was no different.
Those three years affected what i could and couldnt do for work, it also affected my social life drastically. I only left the house when i had to. I had enough by the time march 2017 rolled around and so had the military. I had been told i couldnt trade change in the defence force nor will i ever be sent anywhere ever again.
I decided to move from nz to canada, on leave witgput pay from the military and have been living here for almost 5 months. My eczema has got better during this time after taking a more natural approach and embracing how happy travelling makes me.
So recently iv quit the military. Im not going back. I paln to spend the year meeting new people throughout canada and the USA. I will learn, i will grow and i will be greatful.
My military career is over but my journey has just begun.
