My name is Scott Phillips and I am the current coach along with my assistant coach Kari Wilcox for the girls East Madison Little League Softball division and our traveling softball team,the East Madison Mayhem program. For the last five years in my time coaching here, I've invested hundreds if not thousands of hours working and instructing the girls to not only become awesome softball players, but to become awesome young ladies. We have a great and diversified group of girls ranging from all types of cultural backgrounds and upbringings. I am reaching out to area businesses and local people who are interested in helping us with our upcoming traveling softball summer season for 2019. We are trying to give these girls a real club sport type feel to families who otherwise couldn't afford this type of opportunity. I am looking for generous people who would be willing to donate and sponsor this program. I have unselfishly spent much of my own money to try to help each and every player out in my tenure here, in regards to: team registration costs, tournament fees and equipment, giving rides to and from games and practice, buying trophies and anything else any player needs. The baseball side seems to get most of the sponsorship money and the softball girls are left trying to fend for themselves!! I am looking to raise $7500 dollars for struggling parents or single parents who simply can't financially afford or contribute any funding for winter indoor practice space, jerseys, equipment bags, team banners, tournament fees but particularly scholarships and miscellaneous expenses.. . I've been living on Madison's Northside my whole life and thought, what a great place to start reaching out for help. If you agree that this is a great opportunity for these young athletes then your donation would be greatly appreciated. In a time when so many kids are turning to drugs, disclipinary problems and lacking self esteem, team sports builds integrity, confidence, leadership and comraderie that will follow them through their entire life. This would be a great way to give back and help out a great group of local Eastside/Northside youth by rewarding them and giving them a cool chance to participate in tournaments that usually are for big budget, high dollar operations. In a summer season we typically try to particpate in at least 10 tournaments and the registration fees range between $350 to $500 per tournament. Because our traveling team is a separate division of East Madison little league,by donating to the league the money gets distributed league wide and the softball team only gets a small percentage back.. This is a softball only contribution.. Thank you for considering this and to help preserve this great sport and even a greater group of girls.. I will be making a team banner to bring to games and tournaments to display and aknowledge all the businesses and people who graciously supported this endeavor..
