Hey everyone! Usually I wouldn’t come forward and create one of these, especially now, as we are obviously in a pandemic.
Last Friday, there was a fire in my parents’ apartment building. The Fire Marshall closed the building down, so the tenants of that building were forced out due to smoke damage. My parents are having to pay out of pocket to stay elsewhere (a hotel), with NO help or answers from the complex’s office. They are also expected to pay rent with no subsequent date of when they can move back in.
With that, they are having to pay out of pocket for all of their basic necessities that they have lost the privilege of in their own home - and of course continuing to pay as they stay in their hotel - which can become even more expensive. Again, no help from the complex’s offices whatsoever.
The complex has turned off the building’s gas, power and water until the building undergoes inspection by electricians, and is obviously repaired to prevent further incidents. Due to covid procedures it may take longer than expected.
Our goal is to raise at least $3, 000 so that way they may be able to pay rent or expenses for at least a month or two (please keep in mind that gofundme takes a small percentage) - But please know that anything helps! Again, I’m aware that we are in the middle of a pandemic, And everyone has their own issues. However, it does not hurt to ask for help. My parents will be grateful for whatever they can receive.
