Zara's Vet Expenses

Hi! My name is Maria and I am starting this fundraiser to help my mom get some assistance for a dog she is caring for. Zara weighed 29lbs back in December when she was captured and tested positive for heart worms by our area shelter. My mom has taken Zara in to get her healthy, to give her love, and to show her she can trust humans. Zara was taken in today for her spay surgery and the vet recommended that Zara should have shots for her heartworm treatment instead of the lengthy process of the slow kill method with doxycycline.

This slow kill method is all the shelter can afford and it is less effective. This method attempts to prevent new heartworms from maturing, but it does nothing to systematically kill the adult heartworms, which can live in their host for years.

As the name suggests, this treatment can take a very long time. During this time, the adult worms will continue to cause severe damage to the pets heart, lungs and other organs.

My mom is a household of one and on a limited income. I am trying to help raise funds so we can pay out of pocket for Zara to kick this disease ASAP.
