Operation: Homeward Bound

In November of 2017, my dad was diagnosed with anaplastic astrocytoma, a rare and very aggressive form of brain cancer. His tumor was compounded with the fact that it is inoperable. Surgery remains the best hope for a good prognosis and it was taken off of the table at day one. The next step was chemo and radiation. Despite an aggressive course of treatment, dad's condition began to deteriorate very rapidly. He lost his vision, memory, speech, his ability to read and write, to paint or play music. It culminated on January 16th when he fell attempting to take himself to the bathroom. After getting him off of the floor we realized that he had lost his motor function on the right side of his body. After a heart to heart with the oncology team, it was determined that treatment hasn't stopped the progression of his illness and my brother and I made an agonizing decision to stop treatmemt. We aren't going to torture him to buy him a couple of weeks. He has entered end of life care and is being kept comfortable. This ordeal came after a financially draining year for our family. We don't have the money to bury him. His wish is to be buried with his parents, brother, sisters and brother in law in Lamar, AR in our family plot. He isn't the kind of man who wants any kind of to do of a funeral, but he most definitely doesn't want to be cremated as it goes against his personal beliefs. In order to move his body home, it will need to be embalmed and two funeral homes, one in St. Louis and one in Clarksville, AR will need to handle him. About $2000 on each side plus the cost of opening the grave. Dad doesn't have a penny to his name. We want to give him the dignity of being buried intact with his family. All funds raised will be divided between Stygar Funeral Homes in St. Louis and Hardwicke Funeral Home in Clarksville, AR with any extra funds used to get our family home with him. Please help us grant his last wish and get him home
