Tyson Snyder Memorial Support Fund

On Monday, January 15th, 2018, Tyson Snyder, 32, lost his life in a helicopter crash in Toledo, Ohio.

Tyson, a resident of Wooster, Ohio, served our Country for 8 years in the United States Marine Corps and served two tours of duty oversees in Iraq and Afghanistan.  Tyson later obtained his degree and Certified Flight Instructor training from Guidance Aviation in Prescott, Arizona. While residing in Prescott, Tyson met and fell deeply in love with my sister, the love of his life, Kalli Hugus.

Tyson and Kalli’s love and life took them from Prescott, Arizona to El Centro, California, to Sandusky, Ohio and back to his hometown of Wooster. Tyson, with the endless support of Kalli, obtained enough flight hours through his commercial helicopter positions to finally obtain  his last and final position in Wooster, Ohio.

When Tyson and Kalli moved to Wooster, they purchased their first home, which needed to be completely renovated, During this process, Tyson and Kalli resided with Tyson’s loving parents. Tyson, Kalli, and Tyson’s father worked tirelessly to renovate the main living areas, so they could quickly move in and enjoy their new home together. While the renovations occurred, Tyson and Kalli also welcomed the newest member of their family, Walter, a spunky French bulldog that they both loved so much. Walter was a dream come true for both Tyson and Kalli, one in which they had been planning for numerous years.

After much hard work, sweat, and laughter, Kalli and Tyson finally moved their belongings into the residence and spent their first and final weekend together in the new house (January 12th - January 14th). During that weekend, Tyson looked around at the house and expressed his joy that everything had been coming together so quickly and that he felt like they had finally made it.

Kalli told me that Tyson looked forward to being able to now support her through nursing school and her career, so they could continue to build on their dreams together.

Due to the tragic accident and early loss of life, Kalli is now faced with the concern that she may have to sell the home that holds some of the near and dear last memories of Tyson. The home is still in need of many renovations in all of the bathrooms, basement, guest rooms, and sunroom. Along with the concern of the possible sale of their home, she hopes to find a way to keep his favorite truck, as these were just some of the things that Tyson loved dearly.

If you ever had the opportunity to know Kalli or to have crossed paths with her in the different seasons of life, you would immediately see that she is an incredibly genuine person with a heart of gold. It’s no wonder why Tyson fell in love with her. She has always put her family and friends before herself and has been the one to stay strong for others, especially in their time of need. Kalli has always had the greatest sense of compassion for those that come into contact with her, whether it’s someone she just met or an old familiar friend.  She has always approached them with a sense grace and love.

In honor of Tyson, it would mean a great deal if we expressed the same strength, grace, compassion and love for the love of his life, by supporting Kalli in her time of need, and as she continues the journey of fulfilling the dreams and goals that they had planned accomplish together.

Whether it’s in your heart to support her through monetary donations or words of affirmation, your love and support are greatly appreciated.
