HELP MAKE AN IMPACT BY JOINING THE MOVEMENT FOR CHANGE!

With the events as of late, we are all aware of the elephant in the room of racial inequality and injustice. The 100’s of years of systematic racism, and how George Floyd’s death seems to be the final straw of tolerance. To be honest, the systematic inequality and injustice will continue until we take care of the root of the problem, and in my opinion, it is education.

I wanted to prove that education was the difference maker by doing a case study on myself. I wanted to see if I self-educated myself on personal finance, investing, and other ways of building wealth would make a difference, or do you have to be rich with resources to accumulate wealth.

My process started in October of 2019, I read Personal Finance for Dummies, Series 7 Exam for Dummies, Trading for Dummies, Follow the Smart Money, and The Intelligent Investor. After completing the list of books, I started a new TD Ameritrade account with an amount of money I thought was on the high end of what a less fortunate person could initially invest, $500. I took a bottoms-up investment approach by researching cheap fundamental stocks that I could invest in long term. Thus far in my case study, my portfolio is up 40%, and one of the stocks I pick is up 137%.

The other evidence that education opens doors is with my son, Tyrell. Growing up, his mom and I would always tell him how important education is over sports. He would ask me if he should go to a basketball tournament or a math competition, duh I would say the math competition. His coaches would get frustrated because he was an exceptionally talented basketball player. Eventually, those decisions led to Tyrell accepting a full academic and athletic scholarship to Stanford University that is worth $73k annually not including the resources, education, and network that Stanford offers.

Through this self-case study and current events, it has given me clarity that education of life skills and financial literacy can change the foundation of systematic inequality and injustice. I am no Martin Luther King, Jr., but God Willingly I want to do my part in making change. With your assistance, the Tyshon N. Terry Foundation would like to take on this initiative to change inequality and injustice through education of life skills and financial literacy.

Your donation or time as a volunteer would be appreciated immensely. $1 to $1 million dollars, we will accept a donation of any size. Every dollar and cent will make a difference, and it will allow us to make an impact that is much needed at this time.
