Help Tyler Get to Beautiful Gate

Hello friends, family, and strangers alike! For those of you who don't know me, my name is Tyler Robbert. I love Jesus Christ and I'm seeking to do what I can to be a part of furthering His Kingdom. That's why you're reading this!

God is doing incredible things in my life and in the world! I want to invite you to be a part of an opportunity I have to be a small part of the work He is doing in Lesotho, Africa! Come September, I will be moving to Lesotho to volunteer in an orphanage called Beautiful Gate. My main role will be loving the kids so that they come to know the love of their heavenly Father. I'm so excited to respond to this call on my life, and as I prepare to do so I have been prayerfully hoping that God might be calling others to partner in this ministry with me too. I have made a one-year commitment to Beautiful Gate and I will be serving as a full-time volunteer.

Why Lesotho?
Lesotho is a small country (slightly smaller than Michigan's upper peninsula) completely surrounded by South Africa. Around 40% of Lesotho's roughly two million inhabitants live below the international poverty line of US$1.25 per day. Over 25% of people in Lesotho are HIV positive. Children are the demographic who arguably face the most difficult challenges from day to day. 80% of children living in rural Lesotho live in absolute deprivation and many of them are severely malnourished. 1 in 5 are orphaned, often left to die in the most horrendous conditions.

Beautiful Gate Lesotho's mission is "to glorify God by providing opportunities for children and families to grow spiritually, emotionally, physically, and intellectually." Since it began, Beautiful Gate has given hope to over 350 children.

Though I have never personally been to Lesotho or Beautiful Gate, I was introduced to this ministry in my work at The River CRC in Redlands, CA this past summer. Since then God has brought it to my attention time and time again in remarkable ways. It's a call I strongly feel God placing on my heart and, although it will push me far outside of my comfort zone, I cannot ignore it. It will be a massive leap of faith, but I trust that where God guides, He provides.

What will I be doing?
The main focus for my work at Beautiful Gate will be childcare. My involvement will essentially be twofold. First, I will assist with the pre-school playgroup during the day, helping the children develop language and motor skills and supporting the house mothers with anything they need. Secondly, I will be helping with the after school program for Beautiful Gate's five primary school aged children. I will walk them to and from school, help them with homework and other school related projects, and participate in physical group activities to promote social skills.

How can you help? 

I am so excited for this opportunity to minister and grow. However, this is certainly not something I can achieve all on my own. I need the support of you, my friends and family, and the Body of Christ. If you are willing, I would like you to consider being a part of my support network in one or both of the following ways:

1. Prayer. This is truly the most important part. I would not be in the position I'm in now if not for months of careful prayer and I won't be able to move forward without it either. I have assembled a team of people who have committed to praying for me regularly, but I would greatly appreciate any and all additional prayer. Would you be willing to pray for me frequently?

2. Finances. In order for this dream to become a reality I need to raise $23,000 for the year. This money will cover housing and living expenses, travel costs, and student loan payments. I would deeply appreciate any gifts to make this possible. Would you consider supporting this work financially?
