We met with the doctors yesterday and we would like to share with everyone the results of Jim's pathology. The tumor is a grade 4 glioblastoma, It is an aggressive cancer. Although they removed the tumor there are microscopic cells that remain and we understand that this type of tumor will grow back but with treatments we can keep it at bay. We will be receiving his treatment at the James. His radiation will start November 6th. It will be 5 days a week for 6 weeks along with ...chemo (a pill) daily. He will also be in a clinical study for an IV drug and will get that once every two weeks. The drug will boost his immune system to fight the cancer. 50%of patients in the study receive the placebo, we won't know if he is actually getting the drug but we feel it's worth the possible benefits. The good news we were told is that his tumor has a mutation and a marker that means it has a better chance of responding to the treatments. We are blessed and thankful to be getting treatment at the James. We feel it's the very best place we can be. The entire team of doctors and nurses have been wonderful.
We want to reach out to everyone, all of our amazing friends and family who have given us prayers, love, concern, help, support, everything! It's all been overwhelming and we love and thank you all so much! We have a battle to fight Jim Bonifield! And we will beat it!!!
