Bob's Medical Fund

Bob was getting ready for his day ahead and his wife noticed something was not right. He was behaving oddly and was not able to answer her questions correctly. She called 911, thinking he might be having a stroke. At the hospital during a CT scan, he had seizure. This led to more tests including an MRI which showed a mass in his temporal lobe. After all the tests, the doctors told him that it was a non-aggressive tumor, but because it was putting pressure on the surrounding brain tissue, it caused both the speech issue and seizure. He also seemed to have a small spot in the thalamus, but they did not believe it to be a tumor.
The plan was made to surgically remove as much of the tumor as possible. The surgery went very well, but the pathology report took everyone, including the doctors, by surprise. He was diagnosed with glioblastoma - stage 4 brain cancer. The smaller spot they had seen, would most likely be cancer, as well.
Bob began a six week treatment of chemo each day and radiation every morning Monday through Friday. Bob was unable to drive because of the seizures and many people stepped up to help.  Even with health insurance the cost  for all these doctors, the chemo medication, and radiation treatment are astronomical.
Bob took medical leave from work during the treatment, but went back immediately even though he was exhausted and had other negative affects from medications he had been prescribed.
The first round of treatment is over. The latest MRI is very positive and we are all thrilled to hear the good news that the main tumor is gone; which doesn't mean cancer-free, but we are praising God for such a good report and continue to pray. But the bills have piled up, the second round begins after the holidays and he will need to take more medical leave. All this has left him in a tough spot.
There are other extenuating circumstances, as well. His wife has health issues and is not able to work. Their two teenage sons are a great help, but this has been a tough year for all of them.
For those of you who know him, you know all that Bob does for others. It's time for us to give back to him and his family. With multiple doctors, hospitals, and lab bills and his income reduced on FMLA, he needs help. I know that this is asking a lot from everyone as we come into the holiday season, but if you will please pray about what God might want you to give...and keep Bob and his family in your prayers. Thank you and God bless you all!
